Two men accused of raping semi-conscious girl on a beach on trial

Two men will be tried today in the courts of the Balearic islands accused of raping a young woman who was semi-conscious on a beach.

The alleged event took place one night in August 2015 on an Ibizan beach and the Prosecutor’s Office requests sentences that exceed 21 years in prison.

According to the accusation, one of the men, taking advantage of the fact that the young woman was in a state of semi-consciousness due to the intake of drugs and alcohol, threw her to the ground and tried to force her to have intercourse, without success.

Later, the second defendant approached and performed a sex act on her whilst holding her head, until witnesses helped the victim.

For the first of the defendants, the Public Ministry claims nine years in prison for sexual abuse with penetration as a necessary cooperator and three for sexual abuse with attempted penetration. For the second, the Prosecutor’s Office requests nine years for sexual abuse with penetration.

In addition, compensation of 8,000 euro is claimed for the victim.
