Weapons, hams, and vapes thieves arrested
The Guardia Civil, in collaboration with the National Police in the so-called “Notredame-Vapershop” operation, arrested four people and investigated three others for the alleged crimes of robbery with continued force, illicit possession of firearms, membership in a criminal group, reception, against public health and against heritage.
In the five searches carried out, four firearms, ammunition of different calibres, a bulletproof vest, three vehicles, two marijuana plantations, 50 hams and almost 57,000 electronic cigarettes were seized.
The investigation began as a result of the significant and highly specialised increase in burglaries in homes, establishments and industrial warehouses, as well as the theft of firearms and electronic cigarettes (vapers) on a large scale in the province of Seville.
The agents confirmed the relationship between the theft of large displacement vehicles and the assaults on homes, establishments and industrial warehouses. In them, they stole a multitude of high-value products, especially electronic cigarettes and firearms for subsequent illicit distribution in the market.
In the case of two of the industrial buildings attacked, the criminals repeated it up to three times, achieving goods valued at more than 500,000 euro. The stolen merchandise was electronic cigarettes/vapers that were distributed in different locations in the province through individuals, restaurants or street businesses.
The investigators verified that behind the vehicle thefts was a criminal network that used these vehicles to attack establishments and homes. The cars were parked on public roads for a period of time so as not to be detected by security forces, until they were used. Stolen vehicles were also offered as a means of payment to other criminal organisations for various criminal purposes.
The operation has ended with the arrest of seven people and the dismantling of this gang of specialised in the illegal sale of electronic cigarettes.
Those arrested and investigated have been brought to justice, with two of them having been remanded in preventive detention.
