Criminal Mastermind Arrested in Orihuela

Published

on

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in Orihuela, although in view of the events and the somewhat sarcastic headline, it is not likely he will be known hereafter as a criminal mastermind.

The arrestee allegedly robbed a jewellery store in Orihuela where he had intimidated the employee with a screwdriver.

He fled the scene initially on foot but didn’t get very far before members of the public intervened and snatched back the tray of jewellery he was trying to make off with.

Those members of the public, at the same time as intervening, being able to provide subsequent witness and identification statements to the police.

The witnesses also pointed out that although the man continued to try to escape in his poised getaway car… He had lost the keys! Or rather, unbeknown to him, the female shop assistant he robbed saw that he dropped them in the store, so she picked them up and hid them.

The police who attended were then able to identify the owner of the now abandoned vehicle, and subsequently arrest our criminal mastermind as a result on Avenida Estación in the city, and so he was processed as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with intimidation and was subsequently brought to justice.
