ORIHUELA RESHUFFLES TO ACCOMMODATE SALARY SAVING

Following the refusal by the opposition Partido Popular and CLARO groups of Orihuela council to allow the newly appointed councillor Manuel Gallud to earn a part time salary and continue his work as a dentist, the Mayor of Orihuela has shuffled the responsibilities to allow the saving to the municipality, whilst also maintain the full support of the governing team.

Carolina Gracia of the PSOE will now take on the role of finance, in addition to festivities, protocol and youth. Manuel Gallud of the Los Verdes will take the roles of modernisation and mobility, the environment and heritage, employment and industry as well as trade and markets.

However, receiving the part time salary rather than the full time rate does not mean he will only work part time, Gallud had already vowed to provide the same amount of working time as he did in his role of unelected team member, but the move allows him to continue his private dental practice in the evening.
