Fire Fighting Plane Crash

A pilot of a fire-fighting aircraft was injured on Wednesday when his plane failed to take off and crashed back to the ground at the Doade airbase in Lugu.

The Dromader M18, which carried the registration EC-FAT, was manufactured in Poland in the early 1980´s, designed for crop dusting.

The pilot, himself a Polish national, was taken to hospital after the crash but was not thought to be in a serious condition.

An investigation has been launched to ascertain the details surrounding the crash.
