The Spanish Government has announced 25 million euro investment in the purchase of four reconnaissance drones and two ground stations.

The announcement was made as part of the 2016 budget with the total amount allocated to the program being 171 million euro over 5 years.

The order has been placed with a private American company to provide the Reaper drones, which are already in use in the UK, France and Italy, which can fly for 24 hours uninterrupted and reach an altitude of 45,000 feet.
