Conscious of the dramatic loss of sand, the constant appearance of stones and a reduction in the length of the beach along the beaches of Puerto , Las Villas, El Mojon and the Higuericas in Torre de la Horadada the Pilar municipality has been working for several months on a revolutionary new project with the University of Alicante.
Fidel Ros, the mayor of PIlar said that the results of a study carried out by the university, which it is said will provide solutions to project the beaches, should be available in the next few weeks.
The project includes several proposals such as the installation of dikes or jetties which it is hoped will stabilize each of the beaches and recover much of the width that they originally had, returning to the state they were in 50 years ago.
The popular mayor said that once the results of the environmental study are known he will knock on every door to ensure the town gets the funding that it needs in order to regenerate this coastal area.
