The Guardia Civil, in the so-called “Cerbero Vegas” operation, has dismantled a criminal group specialized in robberies with force committed in numerous commercial establishments. The detainees are attributed about twenty criminal acts committed during the last two months.

The voracity for the theft of high-end vehicles put the Judicial Police agents specialised in this type of crime on the trail. In May, a significant increase in thefts of the same type of vehicle (make and model) and their involvement in different robberies with force in establishments specialised in the sale of electronic and computer equipment, as well as in tobacconists, were identified.

After managing to identify one of the members, the identity of the other two people who made up the group was found, in the case of individuals from the Madrid neighbourhood of Villaverde, known for their extensive criminal history and belonging to the trusted environment of a well-known Madrid “alunicero”, the Spanish name for what English speakers would call ram raiders.

The robberies were perpetrated at night, and they had previously stolen several high-end vehicles with which they travelled to the places to carry out surveillance of the establishments and commit the act afterwards.

To gain access to the shops, they forced the metal gates and fractured the glass doors and windows by using large hammers. Then, on the run, and in a matter of seconds they filled large raffia bags that they carried with the stolen material, quickly fleeing the place.

Some twenty robberies have been clarified in establishments dedicated to the sale of electronic and computer material, as well as tobacconists located mainly in commercial areas belonging to the provinces of Madrid, Ciudad Real, Zaragoza and Salamanca.

They were arrested and with the corresponding judicial authorisation three entries and searches were made at their homes in Ciempozuelos (Madrid), Cedillo del Condado and Lominchar (Toledo), where 8,000 euro in cash, kits for the theft of vehicles, tools for the commission of the facts and numerous packets of tobacco were located.

The detainees are three Spanish men, aged between 29 and 42, who add up to more than a hundred arrests and who, for these events, are accused of belonging to a criminal group, robbery in commercial establishments, theft of motor vehicles and documentary falsification. After being made available to the competent judicial authority, their entry into prison was ordered.

The operation was carried out by the Organised Crime Group of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil Command in Madrid.
