Not without controversy in San Bartolomé, residents of the small Orihuela hamlet have decided to make public their feelings on the main corruption cases currently being processed through the courts and involving Spain’s politicians.
The novel way they are making their feelings heard is by highlighting the names involved on a town centre street. The cases they decided to concentrate on are those involving Gürtel and Brugal which have now been ongoing for some considerable time.
However the idea backfired rather when a number of other residents objected to the move and asked them to remove their road markings. The photograph shows a local man erasing them a day or so later so as, he says, to avoid controversy among local neighbours
